Take away the penalties and the Royal Airs were the second best corps on the field that night. Get your facts correct! The Kilties were the best that night and listening to this record will prove it...

I was 16 years old marching with the Garfield Cadets when this album was recorded. Only 16 years old playing the solo in Intermission Riff , which was our concert back then in 1960. My best friend George King , who also was 16 at the time, and I shared the solos in Besame Mucho. And another Garfield Cadet Alumni, wailing a baritone in Intermission Riff, was Johnny Avella, 18 at the time. Just listen to the horn line back then playing on those hard as heck to play G bugles, and getting the old drum corp sound that is only found out there now in a few drum corps. The talent back then at such a young age was incredible. However, if you want to see young talent twice as good, playing on B flat t..

One of my favorite junior corps albums of all time: it captures four slices of fine drum corps programming, style and artistry of the end of that decade. In particular, this was the zenith of the Ed Denon era with the Boston Crusaders; his highwater mark as a music man...

Man! I wore the grooves off this album listening to St. Lucy's "Conquistador"over and over and over again. LOL. Kept picking up the needle to learn all the drum solos on this classic LP. This is a MUST have in your collection...

This is a great album to have. Boston's Ballard for Giraffe's drum solo, Blue Rock's Mod Squad, Anaheim's A Yard Goes On Forever, and Trooper's HoeDown. Truth be told St. Rita's Brassmen were excluded from being recorded that night. They and Anaheim tied for 6th place. Go figure. Great outdoor recording. One of the best of the 70's sereis to me...

I marched with St. Williams Dorchester under Domenic Bianculli for 17 years. Those were the good old days. My brother marched with St. Willies and then went on to the Boston Crusaders after Willies folded. I am looking for anything that fleetwood may have with St. Willies. I have already purchased the 6th Annual Senior Sound of Music. If anybody knows where I might find anything on St. Williams, please drop me a line. Thanks. ahshamrock@verizon.net..

A Evening with the Corps was a staple in drum corps history. We always looked forward to these indoor exhibitions kicking off the new drum corps year. I was fortunate to being part of the shows at Carnegie Hall, as well as this one.
if you can find the one with the Bronx Kingsmen, it would be worth it. Their new orange sequined vests and uniforms, the Bob Bunce hornline complete with "shoulder euphoniums" produced a sound ahead of its time. These are classic recordings. Pick them up...
